Robert James Aldrus' TWISTED EARTH©

A traditonally illustrated full length novel

Twisted Earth© and all of its contents as well as information presented below is fully copyrighted. Any duplication or use of the contents below is strictly prohibited.

Twisted Earth was initially conceived as an interactive website that combined original artwork with an ongoing plot line in hopes to attract a community of artists, writers, visitors and members to contribute to it's overall telling. A merchandise line would be an extension thereof, primarily existing as a garment line with each design having it's own part in the tale. In other words, Twisted Earth would be a story by the people, that grew in the telling with their contributions.

However, Twisted Earth as a "story" began to manifest and in different ways. It's origins were  an pre-apocalyptic scenario where a talented artist had been chosen by a sinister force, to manifest into reality all of his nightmarish creations from his imagination.  A worldwide takeover by monsters to put it plainly, yet the entire scenario would be played out from the perspective of the artist as well as those on the outside.

As time went on, the story began to mature, undergoing several changes.  The most important of these was the development of the antagonist into a much more significant character.  This dark muse, a creature of sorts that hid it's identity behind a frightening mask would start to shape a symbiotic relationship to the protagonist as opposed to just an evil force. "Friend" as it would be dubbed, inspired by a character created by James Lincke, would become more of a tragic, dark side of the protagonist's subconscious with a much more interesting motive than to just destroy the world.

Twisted Earth: A brief overview

Twisted Earth can be considered a complex hybrid of literary (or visual) genres, therefore entirely genuine while at the same time, a challenge to classify outright.  At it's heart, the story is a powerful cerebral drama, who's emphasis rests on plot and character development to deliver a heart rending while thought provoking emotional experience. Twisted Earth also juxtaposes unidealized realism with spectacular fantasy, in which it's real world characters are abandoned to a metaphysical world that can be described as nothing short of wildly imaginative and uninhibited. The tale possesses elements of psychological and fictional horror as well, where nightmarish creatures lurk at each turn to haunt the mind and body of a child in total isolation from humanity. A part mystery thriller, part action adventure, Twisted Earth takes it's characters upon an incredible, exciting journey through many trials and travails to unravel a hidden truth. Once uncovered, a spectacular conflict results in a perplexing yet revelatory climax. Throughout it all however, Twisted Earth exhibits the indelible themes of hope, love and redemption, no matter how difficult the obstacles nor unclear the pathway.  A story within a story, Twisted Earth communicates on many levels to it's audience, proving everyone has the ability to change their own reality through imagination, willpower and ingenuity.
